I would like to add a SpreadsheetConverter web page to my web. I use FrontPage.

If you have navigational bars on top or to the left in your web site, you cannot use ‘Insert-file’ into an existing web page. If you do FrontPage will create a non-working web page!
Instead you must use the following method to add the page:

1. Select File-Import and press Add File. Select the file generated by SpreadsheetConverter.
2. Open the newly inserted page. Note that it contains no navigational bars.
3. Select Format-Theme and select the default theme.
4. Select Format-Shared Borders and apply to the selected page.
5. Select View-Navigation and using drag-and-drop move the inserted page to the location where you want it.
6. Right-click on the page that you just moved and make sure that ’Included in Navigation bar’ is selected.

Now, your page should appear like the other pages in your web site and the navigation structure should include the new page.

How do I change the look-and-feel of the page?

The look-and-feel of the web page generated by SpreadsheetConverter is defined by a number of style sheets in the header of the HTML-file. By changing the style sheet values the page layout will change.

You can also open up the page in FrontPage or Dreamweaver and change the layout and look-and-feel. All calculations will continue to work as normal.

How do I create a web form that uses a FrontPage server extensions enabled web server?

When you create a form to be used by a web server that supports FrontPage Server Extensions (for example Microsoft IIS or Apache), follow these steps:

1. Create the Excel spreadsheet.
2. Name the input and output cells in Excel (This step is not mandatory, but makes the result easier to understand).
3. Create the web page using SpreadsheetConverter.
4. Start FrontPage.
5. Load the web page created in step 3 into FrontPage.
6. Put the cursor somewhere in the form near the input fields, right-click, and select ‘Form properties’.
7. The minimum you must do is to select ‘Send to’ and enter the email address.
8. Save the web page.
9. Publish the web page onto your web server.

I do not want to use FrontPage server extension, any alternatives?

Instead of having my web form submit button send me an email, is it possible to store each submit in a database or file on my website?

Yes, you can use Frontpage extension for that.

You have to add a submit-button and have some kind of webserver to receive the submit.

How do I insert an SpreadsheetConverter page into Frontpage?

Create a new web page in Frontpage, then do as “Insert a spreadsheet on an existing web page” on page 42 in the SpreadsheetConverter manual.

We would need to modify or add-on some code since for our purpose we need to add some additional features. Is this possible? (The type of things we need to add are security and usage tracking.)

We generate a plain HTML-form, as long as you do not rename the controls, you can edit the web page.

How do I know if my web host installed FrontPage Server Extensions (FPSE) on my account?

You can confirm that FPSE was successfully installed and are functional by browsing to the page “_vti_inf.html” at the root of your domain. For example –http://www.mydomainname.com/_vti_inf.html . If the FrontPage configuration page loads then that is your confirmation page. A “page cannot be found” or other such server error would indicate that FPSE needs to be installed or reinstalled by the host.
